Simple API Addition to Help Games not Miss Frames - Feedback & Requests - Epic Developer Community Forums

Top Comment: Lately, more and more computation limit errors happen on games, even for games that were previously released that was not having them, or not having them that frequently. Obviously non-existent of computation limit errors, doesn’t mean your game isn’t missing frames.

Group Game Comes up with 404 Page Not Found

Main Post: My game “Boba Cafe” under my group “Boba” was removed somehow. Players received a 404 page not found error and are not able to play the game. Top Comment: I’m sure this is some sort of bug because I haven’t received a moderation notice to my account, to my Roblox messages, or to my email. To add my game does not have any of the recently moderated things such as bedrooms, bathrooms or private rooms. It is fully open concept and family friendly.

How often do you buy Steam games when they're not in a sale?

Main Post:

Sometimes I see games I'm interested in that are not in a steam sale, and the price can be very high given the age of the game. I'm curious how much business steam does on games that aren't in sale?

Top Comment: rarely, unless they are cheap games on release, but it is a rule of mine, unless i am gagging for it, for example, BEYOND SHADOW GATE, then i wait for a sale, but if it is something i really want and i know i want to play and finish right now, will buy. best part ? most games on release have a 10 to 25% sale and most time, that is good for me. Beyond citadel had a very nice release date discount for example, i wasn't gagging for it, but got a release discount and a previous game discount, that was around 30% so instant buy on day 1.

Steam games not appearing in my windows search bar

Main Post:

Hi guys! So, i'm Having an issue with my steam games, they won't appear in my search bar, so i can't open them without Having to open steam. Does anyone knows how to solve this?

Edit: I've found a fix! Open the game files through steam and right click on the .exe file, and then, add them to Start menu, that sould do the trick.

Top Comment: Steam will have to open to play the game anyway so either way you're gonna have to open steam. Other than that, that doesn't seem steam specific and sounds more like an issue with your windows search You could also navigate to where the games are installed and create desktop shortcuts for them if you wanted

Main Post: People not AI will make games, PlayStation boss says

Top Comment: I mean duh. Ai cant function without input. People using AI as a tool to speed up game development though. That is 100% certainly going to happen. The tool is only as good its user. So talented people will still be best for work.

What games can you just not get into

Main Post:

What’s a game that’s critically acclaimed, everyone loves it, that you just can’t get into

Edit: Guys I know this is reddit and if you even spell a word wrong you’ll get downvoted into oblivion. But I will say please don’t downvote the people in the comments who just weren’t into your favorite game. That does not mean they’re saying the game sucks, just that they didn’t get it. My Example: I don’t think Death Stranding sucks or is bad it’s just that I personally cannot get into it

For me it’s Death Stranding. I’ve tried on 3 separate occasions to play that game and I cannot for the life of me get into it. I think (hot take? incoming) I just hate how Hideo Kojima makes games. I hate constantly being interrupted by 30 minute cutscenes and pop-ups when i’m just trying to actually play the game

And the gameplay of Death Stranding is pretty fun from the short bit I’ve played. But i can never get past the fact that I played for like 3 hours and barely actually got to play the game

Top Comment:

Any kind of deep strategic game. Civ, command and conquer, you name it. I tried it and just hope. I’d love to like em but I just can’t

Not necessarily playing the game how it was intended

Main Post:

It dawned on me that I did. Example from Metal gear solid, PS2. Recently revisited on the PS3 collection. The first half of the game was crystal clear from my memory, skidding in seagull poo, continuously missing fatman with tranquliser darts, layout of the Big Shell etc etc.

I could never get past the swimming section in my younger days, so would hit a brick wall. But, with most keycards, a selection of guns and explosives and nothing but hours to burn as a kid I would essentially work my way loop to loop around the rig that I had access to toying with the soldiers. I'm estimating hundreds upon hundreds of hours of this as I didn't really have a massive gaming collection back then.

Did anyone else create their own rules and objective in a game? Especially as a younger player?

Top Comment:

I was about 7 or 8 when Jedi Outcast came out.

Me and my siblings would play on the LAN and just kinda... play make-believe, but in Star Wars. We'd pick a map and pretend to be stormtroopers on a star destroyer, or bounty hunters, or spawn in some NPCs and pretend to run a bar on Nar Shadaa. You know, imaginary games kids play, only using the game as a tool.

Britain not in the game 😑

Main Post:

Right full disclosure I'm Scottish/British, and in that sense, I'm biased. However, I genuinely have an interest in world history.

The modern age is defined by Ed Beach as from industrialisation to the Cold War.

Without writing out hundreds of years of history. Britain was the first nation to industrialise. It was the world power from the end of the napoleonic war till the beginning of ww2. Post ww2 to the Cold War, it was still a major player. The country has made a huge amount of contributions to the world in science, economics, and culture. Need I say more...

If the rest of the world disagrees, then fair enough. But I genuinely can not fathom the decision to leave Britain out at launch.

Edit: i realise there will be a DLC of some sort, and i think that's why I'm even more annoyed. It feels like a money grab. Meanwhile, france has 3 leaders by my count! (Napoleon. Lafayette, charlemagne)

Top Comment: Britain will almost certainly be coming soon in DLC. Similar British bias here in assuming that Britain would have to be included in some form in the base game, but I agree that their exclusion is a bit baffling, especially with how well Britain seemingly would have fit into some of the modern era mechanics. The only logic I have behind it is that, given Ed's original comments about how the overbuilding of London was an inspiration for some of the game's mechanics, that they possibly had too many ideas for Britain for a single civ and so they're sparing it for a sort of 'dedicated' DLC with British themed civs across the three eras (e.g. a 'Celts' ancient civ, Scotland/Ireland exploration era civs and modern Britain).
